#105: Baby Talk

Regina walked across the street from her house.

Kelly had invited her over for breakfast, and to see the nursery that Kelly was decorating.

'There's still no siding on the second floor of this house,' Regina said to herself (an observation that Bill had made repeatedly).

In Bill's view--and he was very handy--the exterior of a house should be secured before any "frou-frou" interior decorating should be done.

Kelly was delighted to be pregnant, and was very much looking forward to having her girlfriend over for breakfast.

Regina let herself in through the side door.

"Hi, sweetie!" Kelly cried.  "Your timing is perfect!"

"Smells GREAT!" Regina enthused.  "I know some women are put off by food when they're pregnant, but not THIS girl!"

"Me either!" Kelly assured her.  "Let's eat!"

The two sat down.  "I really admire how glamorous you manage to look while pregnant," Regina complimented Kelly.  "It's all I can do these days to get out of bed and put on Alice's used maternity clothes.  And I've been wearing thick socks and hiking boots for days!"

"Well, you're MUCH further along than I am, sweetie," Kelly said, digging into her food.  "I seriously doubt I'll be feeling 'glamorous' a few days from now."

"I have to say," Regina replied, "that I don't think any of us have known anyone LESS prepared for childbirth than Alice.  Yet she came through it really well."

"Yes, she did a good job," Kelly agreed.  "And her son is adorable."

"And I think she and Dude are doing okay," Regina added.

"Really?" Kelly asked.  "Is she giving him a chance?"

"Well, speaking as someone who lives with her every day, I think she's more in love with Dude than she thinks she is," Regina said.

_______________

After finishing eating, the two women went upstairs to see the nursery that Kelly had started decorating.

"Uhhhh, I'm guessing you and Derek are having a girl???" Regina said.

"Oh, yes!" Kelly admitted.  "Derek always wants to be in control of everything, so as soon as we could, we had the gender of the baby determined."

"You're SO organized," Regina said.  "I'm weeks ahead of you, and I've done NOTHING about a nursery!"

The two went back downstairs, and Kelly made them some tea.

"Is there ANYTHING better than being pregnant and having a good husband?" Regina laughed.  "Because they'll do whatever we want."

"I know, right?" Kelly responded.  "Life just could not be more perfect."

***************************

No, Kelly, life could possibly be better.  But it could also be much worse.  Which you will soon discover.

  1. Love the wallpaper and Kelly's dress. I'm so excited to hear that Paige believes Alice is in love with Dude. I hope it's true! ~ LP
